5 years of planning between me and Paul Simpson, 5 years of an extra-ordinary friendship and trust considering that we are miles away and I've never met him personally..the nay sayers said it could never happen....one night, I was able to get a promoter and a good friend who treated me as family by the name of Jesse Gonzales aka Speedy Gonzales of DMC Philippines (former station manager of the legendary radio station, DWXB102 consultant of the trailblazing radio station 89DMZ). Cebu would not have been done had it not been for the trust and confidence of The Sonicpop Group headed by Federico Penaflorida and Dino Domingo. Finally, The Wild Swans came, they went and they've conquered Cebu and Manila respectively on September 30 and October 1, 2011. This is a hodge-podge of pictures mostly taken by me and well, some were tagged by friends of mine whom I'd like to give a special mention on: Kenneth Casquiejo (official photographer of the Cebu Leg), Dave Gareza Daguino, Vix Gaminde-Leviste, Maricris Vitug from the band Pagan Away, Dwight Amparado Bernas from the band The StevenEstebans, Eddieboy Lopez, Sandee Uyengco, Darx Emphasis, Arnold Camacho and photographer extra-ordinaire Norman "Omay" Gorecho, Kevin Pableo, Azrael Coladilla, Nonoy Avellanosa, DIG Radio, Bahjo and Pepeton Cabauatan and Jojo After Dark, Bobby of Bebpp records for having Ricky and me, Gerry Silva and Ron South of 99.5RT's New Wave Xtra. Mondo Castro of The Manila Standard and yes, head honcho for The Pin-Up Girls, NoMixx Restobar n Grill, Gweilo's, Heckle and Jeckle, Hard Rock Cafe Philippines, The Oxford Suites, Diamond Suites and Residences in Cebu and the bands most especially: Deadpopstars, SID, Kudos Loves 80s and Ms. Trisha Garcia. The Wild Swans line up consist of the original Wild Swan, Paul Simpson, ex-Spiritualized Michael Mooney, Echo and the Bunnymen's bassist, Les Pattinson, Ricky Rene Maymi musician extra-ordinaire from from Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Triffids who from time to time, sessions with Steve Kilbey, Richard Turvey and Stuart Mann along with their manager, Mitch Poole.
Considerably, this was quite a challenging event for me but after all the backtalk, after some very nasty messages coming from wives or girlfriends who didn't allow their husbands to attend the event and thought I was "the other woman"...after all the doubts of them having to come here after sounding like a voice in the wilderness...finally, the dream came true. This event was the final measure in knowing who your friends are and in knowing what you can do. Band side, well, it was picking on the set list, introducing the Philippine culture music wise, food, people and finally meeting a dear friend whom I've only had correspondence with throughout the years. Watching them rehearse ... all good memories.
